MGHIHP ABSN Reviews

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi everyone!

I recently got accepted into the ABSN program at MGHIHP, and I would love to get as much information as I can about the program.

Anyone who has been to the program or who has had a friend at the program, what have been your experiences? Have you enjoyed it? How are the professors? Are the courses well-taught? How much of them are online? How are clinical placements?

Really anything you can say would be hugely helpful!!!

For future readers, I promise to write reviews here if I end up deciding to go to MGHIHP! (They are hard to find!)

Thanks a million.

I completed the program a few years ago, so I can't speak to the current program. At the time, they had recently changed several of the courses to be online modules, which was very frustrating -- paying such a high tuition fee to essentially teach yourself. I had a few great professors, but I hear the ones I had are no longer there full time. As an RN, I have colleagues who have also gone the accelerated route (NYU, Georgetown) and I think the general consensus was that we felt very under-prepared to enter the working world and it was necessary to find a strong new graduate residency to transition. 15 months is a very short time, and despite having a high amount of clinical hours, they felt very rushed. Many IHP students were very dissatisfied with our placements. Also, don't rely on IHP helping you gain employment, it's very unlikely you will get a job at any Partners hospitals. I had to leave the state to find work at a big hospital.
