I've worked at both hospitals. Not in the ED at SCH but on one of their surgical floors and as a float nurse at MBH. The pay is very similar. SCH is currently going through contract negotiations so their pay might be bumping a little more than MBH soon. The overall culture, I feel like, is better at MBH. Everyone I work with was a lot more inviting, friendly, and willing to help you learn vs at SCH. Based off my experience and the people I've worked with, they have also said that SCH isn't the most friendly place to work. SCH is not a trauma hospital. Due to noise laws/codes in Laurelhurst, it does not allow for SCH to have a heli pad or "loud sirens" past a certain time. MBH is a level 2 trauma hospital and the only pediatric trauma hospital in Western WA (other than Harborview). But trauma pts do still get sent to SCH after they're stabilized and a lot of their PICU is more so chronic kiddos. MBH is also opening their own stand alone children's hospital next Spring which is super exciting.

Thank you so much for your comment. I'm leaning toward MBH, as it's closer to home for me, but I also really appreciated you mentioning pediatric trauma! Gaining hands on experience with that as an ER nurse is something I'm very interested in.

Anyone around WA worked or know much between Mary Bridge or Seattle Children's Emergency department? My plan after nursing school is to go into children's emergency. I just liked to know which might be better. (Management, staffing, psych patients, traumas, pay, environment feel, etc.)
