Mandatory HIV testing for pregnant women

I'm 38 weeks preg. right now, and when my OB asked me many months ago whether I wanted to be tested for AIDS along with all the other tests they run, I told her "sure." I mean, how am I to know for certain that my husband is and has always been 100% faithful? What if I unknowingly had it, refused the test, and then passed on the virus to the baby through breastfeeding or delivery? To me, it's just better to be safe than sorry, and I think mandatory testing would be a fine idea. I really don't know why anyone would not want the test, but I'm sure there are some nurses here who are of the opposite opinion. :chuckle
