:monkeydance:I am a 28yo male student taking all my academic courses to get in the HCC ADN RN Program. I finish Microbiology this December and take AP 2 this spring. What I am looking for is a mentor Male/Female (in Houston would be best case scenario) to discuss career questions, general nursing, and general advice to survive school. This is my second career as I am changing from an IT background. I am very people oriented and very outgoing. The guy who inspired me to follow this career path unfortunately is no longer with us (Milton Martinez RIP), and I find myself wishing for another nurse to talk to. I will complete my CNA course December 8 and will be looking for a CNA job. I have people skills, computer skills, speak and write fluent spanish, and am still studying vietnamese (am at conversational level). One of my questions is will I be able to get a hospital CNA job right out of school or should I go ahead and take the Phlebotomy tech class starting in January. I figure worse case scenario taking the phlebotomy class will help make me comfortable during blood draws in RN Clinicals. Sorry for such a long post... Hope to hear from someone soon.
