I'm looking for a research article that has evidence based practice guidelines on why you should have a pt 1:1 (example somone on ccrt therapy or ballon pump therapy), if any one has a link to an article it would be greatly appreciated. we trying to update our hospitals guidelines and need research articles to support why a pt should be 1:1.:)

Not sure if this is what you're after but what makes a patient a 1:1 is the acuity of the patient. You have to measure the patient's acuity to know how much nursing care they need. I would recommend using the Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System (TISS). There are many variations of it but the one I am familiar with used a scoring system based on 76 points. A 1:1 is any score above 45. When I worked at the University of Tennessee that's how we staffed.
