LVN WCC Wound/Sharp Debridement California

Published

Hello Guys,

I am an LVN with 4 years experience in wound care. I just finished my WCC certification and would like to know if an LVN with a WCC certification is entitled to do sharp debridement. Any comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I believe you must be an MD, WOCN or PT to perform sharps debridement.

Check with your state. Each state has different regulations. I was allowed to in NE as an RN. Not sure about LVN, though.

In the state of California LPN/LVNs are not permitted to perform sharp debridement. They are permitted to do so in a a number of other states with the proper training and RN's with the proper training are permitted to perform sharp debridement in all states. There is a great course that is offered at different locations throughout the country that provides that training. www.sharpdebridement.com I'm a WCC and I've taken the sharp debridement course.
