LVN or Surgical Tech?! HELP! Concorde, Arlington TX

Published

Hey everyone,

I tried my shot at applying for the RN program a TCC but was rejected. I'm now looking into Concorde in Arlington. My goal is to eventually become a RN and I'm trying to decide whether I should take the LVN program or the Surgical Tech program. I DO know that there are schools out there that have the "bridge" for LVN-RN, so I'm leaning more towards LVN. Is it possible to do about the same with a Surgical Tech diploma? I'm also VERY nervous and concerned about finding a job immediately after graduation. I have two boys (1 and 3) and I want to make sure I'm very certain I can support my family whilst paying off school. It's scary reading forums/threads that contain problems finding a job YEARS after schooling. Where can I get experience to apply for jobs that require it? What kind of jobs can I find with a LVN/Surgical Tech diploma? It gets frustrating getting the search engine "run around". Please help! Any information will do.

Thank you!

Have you checked around your area to see what jobs are being offered? Are there more postings for LPN jobs or for surgical tech?

I was recenly accepted into the LPN program at Concorde, Portland OR. I am doing the LPN program in 13 months and then doing a bridge program for my RN. I feel that having my LPN before an RN program will greatly help me out. Best of luck to you!

I went to Concorde Arlington for LVN in 2009. I've never heard of a surgical tech -rn program. I'm starting an lvn-rn program at the end of this month. I moved to California after graduation and transferred my license over from TX. I haven't heard of any of my classmates having trouble finding work in tx though. CareNow was like begging any of us to work for them before we even passed nclex.
