Hello Everybody!
I'm a long time ambulance worker here (25+ years as an EMT) and I'm trying to get into an LVN program next week. My company closed and I'm looking for a way off the ambulance and into a hospital like setting as the physical side of field calls has taken its toll over the years. As part of admission to a local program I need to ask three current LVN's or LPN's a few questions. For the form I only need two answers, but I sure would welcome as many answers as people are willing to write so I know how you all feel about your current profession. A hearty "Thank You!" to all who answer from an old man seeking to expand his knowledge and save himself from a knee replacement surgery in the near future.
1.) What skills and personal characteristics do you need to perform this job successfully?
2.) What additional training or education is most valued for this type of work?
3.) What is the range of income possible in your area for LVN's? What is starting salary like?
4.) What do you like the most about your job? What do you like the least?
Thank you everybody for taking the time to help a fellow healthcare worker out!
