LVN School with a blood aversion?

Published

I have been accepted into an LVN program to start in the fall.I'm excited.:yeah:BUT..I think I might have an issue with seeing blood. There's been a couple times in the past when I was on the scene of accidents (Guy fell and cracked his head open) where there was quite a bit of blood and mentally I felt fine, and wanted to help. But physically after a few minutes it's like my body takes over and starts shutting down. I felt faint, and saw white spots. Now this morning I gave blood for the first time, and was curious if it would happen. I was fine until the end. After the needle was removed and pressure was applied for a couple minutes I started to bleed again enough to soak the gauze on my arm, saw my bag of blood... and started feeling faint. I was white as a sheet. What the heck? Can I be a nurse and have this problem? I'm seriously worried about this. Are there many places I can work and not deal with alot of blood? Give my honest opinions please before I waste my time in nursing school.:uhoh3:
