LVN to RN transition programs in Texas

Hi everyone,

I am currently a LVN but I want to become a RN. My only issue is that my science classes are too old to use for a lot of the transition programs that I have came across in TX. I have an Associates of Science in General Studies (Pre-Nursing) and I really didn't want to have to repeat any science classes to get into a nursing program. Does anyone know of any colleges in Texas that do not require you to repeat science courses if they are over 5 years old?

Hi. Last time I checked into it on their website, TWU had an LVN to RN program that did not require updated science courses. That was about five years ago, though, so you may want to check their website to see if it's changed. All of the other LVN-RN programs that I looked into back then required the science course updates.

If you are looking for LVN to RN but not a BSN program, the Lone Star College system here in Houston has refresher science classes that are online and pretty quick. If you pass the refresher, your earlier grade becomes the updated grade. Pretty good deal for people that had A's first time around. I know the Lone Star LVN to RN program accepts the refresher grade, but I don't know if programs outside the Lone Star system would.
