Lvn Programs in San Diego

U.S.A. California

I have been looking into LVN programs in San Diego, but besides the local community college I can only seem to find Grossmont Health Occupation Center. I know that there are schools like Kaplan & Concorde but they cost almost 40, 000, which I feel is way to much. My only problem with the local JC is that they require pre requisites which is going to take a couple semesters to complete then there's a waiting list on top of that. Right now I'm leaning towards Grossmont Health Occupation Center because its only 2900, but the next class isn't until August 2014. So my question is does anyone know of any other programs or if not cheap or free CNA classes so I can at least do that while I wait for the LVN program. Also has anyone taken the LVN course at Grossmont Health Occupation Center, if so how was it?

Our campus is aged & we don't have the fanciest equipment here. However, the quality of education we receive is great.

There is a high NCLEX pass rate and we have a good reputation within our community.

Personally, I would never pay (or advise someone to pay) Kaplan or Concorde 40,000 to obtain an LVN license.

If I were you I would apply for the LVN program at GHOC, get my CNA certification and some pre-requisites at a community college done while I wait. The pre-requisites aren't a waste of time because every RN program requires them. (If you ever decide to go to a private school for your RN, completing the pre reqs will save you alot of $$)

GHOC has a pretty good CNA program. It's less than 200 dollars too.

If you're under 26 Job Corps in Imperial Beach offers free CNA classes.

San Ysidro Adult School also has some cheap or free programs.

One year truly flies by. I am set to graduate in a few months and have no regrets.

Good luck on your search!

I just saw this post and I agree with freakquency. You should try to get into GHOC and do prereqs in the mean time. I am going to try and get into the program. Have you done your TEAS V already? I am enrolled in a TEAS prep class through Chula Vista adult to help me get a decent score to get into the program. Maybe we will be there together next fall. Best of luck to you!
