I graduated salutatorian of my class. It has been over 4 months since ive been looking. My classmates with connections all have jobs. Can anyone tell me way to be more "marketable" on a job app? and also where can i find a job? does anyone know what skilled nursing facilities in the bay areas are hiring? can anyone pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee help?! Ive always worked hard at studying, and its so unfair that my classmates who did not work as hard already have jobs becuase of connections and not on school merrit. but thats how life goes. please help.

There's an LVN on my unit who graduated, found no jobs, and now works as a CNA. New grad RNs are also having an incredibly hard time. Maybe applying for CNA position will get you in the door. Yeah, it's not about the grades. It's not fair, but it is the reality. Perhaps calling staff that Precepted you and asking if they'd recommend you or if there's openings. I do believe this trend will turn around but who knows when.

CA is extremely hard for new grads. Consider moving to another state who need nurses more and are willing to pay and train. I hear Texas is great for that. I grew up in CA, went to Davis. I know it's a great place to live. All my family is there. Be willing to go somewhere else for a little while. I live in NC now and work for Duke, met my husband here and stayed to raise a family. I love it here but I'd also love to go back. How about Reno or Arizona. Not too far.
