LTC LPN interested in wound care certification

I'm an LPN in Indiana with seven years experience in long term and assisted living care. I am interested in becoming wound care certified, in the hopes of becoming an independent consultant for local LTC facilities but don't really know where to start. I have some experience with wounds (pressure, diabetic, surgical) but not a ton. I have several questions if anyone with knowledge in this area can help: what credentials do I need? Is the consultant idea even feasible for an LPN? If you get your credentials, are you able to order wound treatments or just make recommendations to the MD? If anyone has become a consultant like this, is it a choice you would make again? Was it a financially sound decision? Lots of questions and any input with your experiences is appreciated!!
