LPN School, Americare Institue in Hanover Park

i see some info here regarding Americare Institute in Hanover Park. i would like to share my own experiences for anyone who is interested.

i am a current student at this school, consistently maintaining my above average grades. i am staying for now since all of my classes are not transferrable so i have to start all over again from the start if i leave. so if you are considering to go thru RN, be sure you know what you will go thru if you will take your LPN in this school. i started last january with their informational session. it was a lot of great speeches and info that made me decide to try the school, had high regards and hopes that it will be a good choice. unfortunately, i had a lot of bumps. i tried to swallow the high tuition fee coz i thougt it will be worth it. now i can say that the tuition is too much for what you get. the flexibility in schedule that they said was not flexible after all. i found that they are too nice and accomodating during info session and initial enrolment sessions. but after that, i was always at limbo land.

its sort of too much promises, but under deliver of services. i am a advocate of under promise and over deliver. i think that is the best way to get business, not the other way around.

sorry to hear about your experience... i also went to the information session a while back. i remember asking whether my credits would transfer to other rn programs. that was my big concern because i did not want to waste my hard earned money. i was told that each private school has its own transfer credits policy; and that i should check other rn programs first before signing up. because of the cost, i was repeatedly told that attending private schools should be my last resort. community colleges should be my first choice. but the problem that i have is the waiting list... overall, i thought the information session was very straightforward. i never felt pressured nor mislead.

i checked other lpn programs before putting down my deposit (that was painful). i visited the board of nursing site (http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/who/schools/nurseschools.pdf) to check other programs. i highly recommend that everyone should do their research and compare schools. visit them. look at their labs. facility. parking. ask about their teacher's credentials and director of nursing, clinical experience, and job assistance. i can honestly say that after visiting other lpn schools none comes close to what americare offers (my opinion only).

before starting the program, i had an orientation explaining the school policies, and again i thought it was very detailed. i was not surprised of the work required to earn good grades. i knew what i was going into.

i have lots of friends who completed the program, passed the nclex and are now making decent income. some work in hospitals; others, in nursing homes. the tuition is more than the community colleges. that i agree. but from what i've been told it's all worth it. they said without americare they would have been still waiting at community colleges.

what courses are you taking now? what hospital do you go for clinical?

i am at medsurg. its was nice to look forward to a smooth ride thru school, little bumps here and there will be ok, but if its too bumpy its unreal. even computation of grades we had to fight for. i guess nurses should be good at sciences, and not that much in math. just make sure you'll make copies of everything that you will go thru so you'll have some proof.

dont worry about passing NCLEX, if you are focused on your studies you will pass it. i guess we just need a certificate that we went thru a school and passed. you know yourself, and self studying is much better. good luck to you too!!!
