Hi everyone,
This is my first post on allnurses.com! I have been accepted to Cumberland University's BSN program at the Mt. Juliet location to begin in Jan. 2012. I was also in the process of applying to the Tennessee Technology Center LPN program just in case I did not get accepted for the BSN program. I know many people may think why would you apply to a LPN program if you already got accepted to a BSN program? I am still considering both. Cumberland's program is $9100 per semester so I will have to take out student loans. The LPN program is around $5000, but I know I would have to go back to school later for my BSN. I am considering the LPN program because Cumberland is so costly. I know both programs will be intense and require much commitment. I have two small children. Could someone possibly help me compare programs? Did anyone find it better for them to get their bachelor's in separate steps, such as becoming a LPN first and returning later? Or do you think it would be better just to finish my BSN (I already have all pre-reqs finished) even if I have to take out more loans than I would if I had gotten accepted to a public institution?

Between the two options, I'd do the BSN. Now if there was an option of doing a ADN (2 yr) then that would be best. I had a similar choice, I chose LPN........I would have done the BSN if I had to do it over.
Good luck
