LPN program at EVEREST COLLEGE!?

U.S.A. Michigan

Im 21 years old. I went to a community college for one year after high school but I partied too much and did not finish. I took a year off school and then decided to straighten my life and go back. I got accepted into a private university called Davenport (In Michigan). I was attending Davenport for their medical assisting program. I was planning on attending this upcoming fall but I feel like I'm wasting my time and money. This semester alone I have to pay around $8,000 with no help of financial aid. I probably wont even be finished with school for another 3-4 years. Its way too much money and I just want to start my career already! I have a friend who went to Sanford-Brown college for medical assisting and she graduated in a year, she got a job at the hospital, and now shes making $16&up/hr at a doctors office. Sanford-Brown is actually moving to Detroit so I cant attend Sanford. I am thinking about attending Everest College now and I know a girl who went to Everest for Dental Assisting and she got a job right away. I would like to change my major and want to go into the LPN program but I would like to know if there is a waiting list at Everest. I read a few reviews and people were saying there is a waiting list? Many of the nursing programs in Michigan at community colleges or universities you have to go on a waiting list. Is the LPN program at Everest worth it? Is the medical assisting program worth it? HELP! im sick of college...

What is your location in Michigan? I just finished Everest's Practical Nursing program at the Southfield campus. No, there is no waiting list, but admissions into the program are very competitive. Over 100 people apply to the program per cohort and only 40 are accepted (into the day program). However, there is an evening program and I hear that it is easier to be admitted into the evening program. New cohorts begin in January, May, and September of every year. The program is good, however, it has it flaws, just as any other schools do, but you will definitely come out with the skills and knowledge you need to enter the field. It is 11 months long and it will fly by.

I am in grand Rapids! Can I email you? I have a few more questions!

This is about my experience at Everest Institute in GR. It definitely has its pros and cons. They like to change parts of the programs right in the middle whenever they feel like it. Thats because Everest belongs to a group of colleges. The price is the biggest part of the con in my opinion. I heard that tuition has increases by 10K since I've started the program. The teachers are helpful and the program is definitely doable. Don't expect a social life, you won't have one if you do the full-time program. It is way different than that of a CC. The classes last pretty much all day. Honestly, if you don't care about the tuition price and paying off your loans for the next 10 years, than do it. Otherwise, I would go with Davenport University for the better structure of the program.

I considered everest, but decided to further my education elsewhere. I just couldnt stomach taking out multiple student loans adding up to almost 40,000! Sure u can get finished faster, but id rather have less debt in the end. Plus if u want to go for rn later u willl have to start from scratch....
