LPN/oncology outpatient clinic

Hello everyone! I am a new nurse. I graduated last July. I have only worked Private duty with 1 patient and it was basically on the weekends. I haven't found a full-time job as of yet. I have had some offers, but the pay was way below the salary I am currently making and I really can't afford to take a BIG pay cut. Well, on next Tuesday I have an interview with an outpatient blood/cancer center. This will be the first LPN position for this clinic. I don't know all the duties as of yet, but I think I will be starting some IV's and drawing blood. I don't have any experience with drawing blood and I was only able to do a couple of IV's in school.

Just wondering...... Do you think I will survive in this clinic and would it be smart for me to take this position if offered since I don't have much exp?? Please give me some advice.

Your ability to survive the position really depends on you. My experience is that many new grads are able to master skills quickly. Do you think you can learn the skills quickly. Once you can draw IV, it wont be that difficult to learn how to draw blood. Being the first LPN in the clinic, there may be resentments.

My advice, analyze your strenghts. No one can know you better than you and be confident in your abiliities
