Okay, hello nursing land =]...I am new to this and this is my story and dilemma. I have a son and a husband going to be separated from them for about 6 months to finish some of my prerequisites for the RN program. I instead am heartbroken and miserable so I cannot wait either to get into a program! I want to do the LPN/LVN route. I will have all of the prerequisites done for the RN program but micro. My GPA isn't all too wonderful probably will be about I'm guessing a 2.8 or more when I'm done with the prerequisites. I want to so desperately be with my new baby. He is 6 months and I'm dying, I mean dying to hold him again:cry: so this is what I would love your help in please: I need to know of any programs that are accredited by NLN or one of those big accreditation people. Or do LVN programs need to be accredited like the RN programs? I need something that can transfer from state to state because my husband is in the Navy for life or 20 years...LoL. Are there any schools in the Bremerton, WA area, the San Leandro, CA area, or Wichita Falls, TX area. If they need prereq's does gpa matter and I will be done with it all except micro in June of 09'. Oh I'm willing to commute up to an hour and some change!!! Thank you EXTREMELY FOR YOUR HELP and to anyone whom can answer! Oh and I want to start in 09 any time in 09 just a foot in the program in 09...

Howdy,

I'm in TN, I retired 2 years ago from the Coast Guard (like the navy, only better :D)

I'd forget about Bremerton for LPN, I went to Olympic colleges orientation and it was like a year to get in, one of the reasons that I moved to TN was so that I could get into school quickly. I went in to ask about classes on a thursday, signed up on monday and now I'm in my 3rd month with a A average.

As far as being separated from your baby, 2 things 1) Why? If you are just doing prereqs you should be able to do that wherever the hubby and baby are now. 2) being separated is not worth it.

You asked about 3 locations, I assume you are heading for transfer season, if Witchita is on the list, is hubby a recruiter? Good luck with what you decide, Bremerton is a nice area, rains alot, good exchange and Naval Hospital, terrible traffic in WA though.

thank you so much tony, the hubby is a biomed tech at the wichita falls military place. He is an instructor. Huh, so many options and so much information to process...a couple of times here and there I stayed up for 2 days straight trying to research schools and information...my body is tired but my brain and worry will not let me sleep...yes I am actually going to bring my son to where I am...so lost...I know some say I'm young and got a lot of time but I don't want to keep taking classes and waiting and getting broken hearted...gpa aint great 2.8...

Have you done research for the 2 colleges here in Wichita Falls? Vernon College offers the LVN program and ADN, which has been accredited for many years. Midwestern offers a BSN program. Vernon is a great college, and there is no prereq. I am in my 3rd month here, it's been great. My husband is also in the military and is an Instructor. I have 3 young children to. Another class starts in Jan, which I believe is full (Not 100% sure though). The part time program starts in July, which is an evening 18 month course. The following Fall class will start in August. There is options for you! Give the school a call and see if it's something for you!! Good luck :)

oh and thank you tony got your note...thank you so much...i will!

Hi there! No, mine is Air Force :) I got into the program first try, depending on your TEAS scores you should be OK! I love the program, it has been wonderful. I won't lie, it's very stressful and intense - but what Nursing program isn't, right? :) I am away from my kids and husband a lot, with studying and keeping up in the program but the end result will be worth it! I really believe that however much work and effort you put into it, the better your grades will be. It's definitely not easy, but its doable! We have lived here in WF for 2 years, and have lived all over the past 13 years with the Air Force!

Let me know if you need anything else! I am not sure on the waiting list to be honest. There was a waiting list for the class I got into in August.
