Can someone help me ? I'm an LPN living in upsate New York and thinking about moving to South Carolina in a few months. I graduated from nursing school in 06/2007, stared working in a hospital on a med-surg. unit in 07/2007 with a permit. I took and passed my boards in 10/2007. I have had my license for over a year now. I started working in a New York State Psychiatric Hosp. in 02/2008. And this is where I am at currently full time, while remaining per-diem on the med-surg floor in the hospital. Now, I want to make a life change and move down south. I only know one person In South Carolina, who have been a friend for over 15 years. He's telling me to give SC a chance and i'm really, really considering it. I need to find out as much about nursing in Marion, SC as I can. What's the pay like ? Housing ? Cost of Living ? What about nursing school. I'm currently in an LPN to RN transition program here an upstate NY . Can I transfer to any schools in MARION, SC and just pick up where i left off ? Please help me !! I need to really start planning now. I have a 13 yr old in school right now and would like for him to finish school and then move by June 2009. I'm scared because i never left " home" before and NY is all that I know, but I need a change and want to show my child that there is life outside of NY. I feel like i have nothing to lose and only things to gain. I'm a licensed professional, smart , hard working and ready for accomplish new things. If anyone is familiar with Marion, SC health care industry please, please flood me all sorts if imformation. I'll greatly appreciate it.
