Low Pre-Req GPA, wanting to apply to ABSN programs

Published

Hello! I am currently a junior undergrad studying at Binghamton University. I recently decided that I wanted to go into an accelerated nursing program and become an RN. However, I have a C- in gen chem 1 and a C+ in gen chem 2 from slacking off my freshmen year, and a C+ in psychology. My other science courese however are all in the A range. I was really interested in applying to the Binghamton Univ's absn program, or the Dominican College absn. However, i was wondering if these C's will be a really big no-no and deter me from getting accepted.

I am really concerned about these C's and am not sure if I should retake them as time/money/frustration etc etc. However, I don't want to start applying with a very small window of opportunity. please give me insight on New York based ABSN's and what my chances are!

I also have decent volunteer work at hospitals and am currently a scribe. Any feedback helps, thank you!

There might be someone here familiar with those programs but the best option is to call up the programs and ask the average overall and prereqs GPA of those accepted. That should give you an idea of their candidate pool and what is competitive for them.

Of course, you also want to pay attention to the gpa of your first bachelor's to ensure you meet minimum requirements there as well.
