Low GPA, Direct Entry NP Programs?

Published

Hello, thank you so much in advance for reading my post and any information you may be able to provide.

I am a recent graduate with a BA in Psychology from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. I am looking into applying to direct entry NP programs, as I hope to eventually become a Psychiatric NP. However my GPA is quite low... a 2.92 to be exact. I have some of the pre-reqs completed but would need to complete the rest and take the GRE.

My question is, most programs like UIC and DePaul say they have a 3.0 minimum GPA. Does this mean that they will not even consider my application? Also, has anyone else heard of programs that accept GPA's below 3.0? I am hoping to complete the program as efficiently as possible. Thank you for any input!
