Looking for ways to pay for school - NC

Published

Good Morning!

I am currently in my last semester of pre-requisites. I'm finally to the point where I can begin applying to some schools (I've applied to UNC and hear back in April).

I live in Durham, NC and currently work full time. UNC is about $28,000 for the BSN program. Duke is even more. Aside from university programs, there are a few community colleges in the area, which average around $10,000. I've spoken to someone with Alamance Community College (where I'm taking pre-requisites), and their program would be part time (since I already have a college degree/general ed requirements), and take about 2.5 years. I've also been unsatisfied with a couple of my instructors there so far and worry about the quality of my education.

I'm reaching out to see if anyone has opinions, resources, advice. My husband and I already have about $46,000 in student loans, so I want to try not to add to that. His salary would not allow me to study full time, unless I supplement with loans. I'm willing to sign contracts to work in certain places, for certain hospitals -- anything if I can find resources that may help me pay for school!

Sorry for the novel :) Any help is so much appreciated.

Best,

Carlyn
