Reading the various threads throughout the forum, you should realize that getting a job in CA is very, very difficult.

You do not have any clinical experience, so you will be competing with the thousands of other new grads in CA for the few spots open to new grads (or that will even consider new grads). That is the sad fact.

Your best bet is to start applying to everything and anything. And then, and only then, move to CA.

Good luck!

Your best bet is probably to start applying in North Dakota where there actually is a shortage of health care personnel.

California is saturated with qualified and over qualified RNs. With zero clinical experience and being from out of state, I gotta be honest, your chances are slim.

Thanks for the advice. i will keep it in mind.

Thanks Mclennan.. but i am new to the site and cannot send PM.

The PM feature will become available to you after you make 15 posts at the forum.

As far as job prospects...I agree with perioddrama: even with a MSN your chances are not good because there's just too many nurses looking for work. Having no clinical experience is your biggest setback. Perhaps going into education, research or non-clinical areas may be an option, but even then it'd be tight. Don't move out here unless you have a job offer in hand.

Also, you mention experience as an educator in India. I don't know if you were initially licensed in India or the U.S., but you should know that CA has probably the strictest educational requirements of all of the states: they are going to evaluate where you attended school for your initial licensure. This applies to local as well as international endorsees, so having a KY license doesn't guarantee that CA will endorse you in.

If you did get your initial nursing license from India, it may be beneficial for you to apply for licensure now, even before you get a job offer. This way, if the CA BRN has any issues with your nursing education, you can address them as soon as possible.

yeah that make sense, i should start the endorsement process first as many mention in other forms that CA license and CA address will generate more response rate than outside state license and address.

well thanks for sharing views.

You can find a job. You just have to go to a hospital in an undesired area. Look into very small hospitals, I'm talking 40 beds. My friend just got hired in Gridley, CA at a small hospital in med-surg now she's already in the ER. Apply there! She only had public health exp...
