looking to get BSN, preferably an accelarated program

Published

Hey guys, I am by far not the perfect student but based on my grades, what schools do you think I stand a fighting chance?

GPA 3.3

AP1-B AP1L-C

AP2-B AP2l-B

Statistics-B

Human Growth-A

Micro- Taking next semester.

I would love to go to John Hopkins even though Im from florida but the website states I must have a B in all pre reqs and unfortunatly I got a C in AP1L

I dont have any chemistry but I do have an AA degree. I have also been working as an EMT for 2 years. Thanks!

I would definitely apply to more than one school! Remember the adage, "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket." How true.

If I had time/money, I would consider retaking API. That being said, some schools have rules about retakes so I would call and find out.

Many programs require a chemistry course in their list of prerequisites.

Do you already have a bachelors degree? The answer to this question determines which programs you can apply to.

nope. Don't have a bachelors.

I don't know how admissions to a BSN program works for someone who has an associates degree. I am guessing you apply to traditional BSN programs and will enroll with advanced standing since you have already completed most of the prerequisites.

I would make a list of schools and apply broadly. Call the schools and discuss the admissions requirements you have questions about. In my opinion, most folks are not "slam dunks" for Hopkins.

Most of the accelerated BSN programs require you to already have a bachelors. With an AA you may get advanced standing in a traditional BSN program. I would definitely apply to multiple schools. Around here you wont get into most BSN programs without a t least a 3.6 gpa, except for some of the very expensive private programs

what I might do is get my associates in nursing(RN). Then find a rn-bsn program.
