long, New LPN looking for job advice....

Nurses New Nurse

i've had three job offers (that i am very thankful for), but i'm not sure which path to take. does anybody have any advice?

i'm married, we have 3 daughters ages 9, 11, and 17. i just passed my boards june 14th and i'm in a lpn-rn bridge program that started june 5th. i have to work while finishing up my last year of school. my husband works 1st shift and our oldest daughter works part-time nights and weekends.

here's my choices...

1. ltc where i have worked as a cna for 2 years

benifits: i know the employer, i know most of the residents, clean facility, will (hopefully) work around my schedule, and it's close to home

non-benifits: i know the employer, it's prn, no benifits, not sure about the cna-nurse transition

when i was hired i was offered to do my 120 hr internship (required where i live prior to being licensed). don talked to me several times throughout my time there about the internship...pay, who i'd work with, how great it would be, etc...but when it came time to actually start the internship i recieved several excuses and was unable to get in my 120 hrs.

after putting in at least 20 applications and making several phone calls (very few people want to "hire" an lpna) i found a place, also ltc. i liked it there and they apperently liked my work and offered me a job.

benifits: familiar with the facility, clean facility, will work around my schedule, they took a chance and gave me the oppertunity to get my much needed 120 hours, better pay (not that money is everything, but it sure makes living a little easier).

non-benifits: prn, no benifits, further from home

3. va hospital

benifits: ft, experience in med-surg/telemetry, benifit package, long term benifits, will work around my schedule, 6 week orientation, poss. pay back for tuition.

non-benifits: will i be able to handle having a family, going to rn school fulltime, and working full time?!, lower pay, $400/year parking (parking lot is owned by a large university).

does any one have any advice or words of wisdom, i appreciate anything you have to offer! thank you in advance!!

blessings,

Take the VA job!!!! Let me tell you that you wont regret the VA job....I know its scary because its new, but it will be well with it. The VA is phenomenal place to work as a nurse, and especially for LVNs in the bridge program. Good luck!!

thank you....that's what i am really leaning toward. i'm just afraid of overloading myself too much.
