I recently just got accepted into the B.S. Nursing Program for the fall of 2012 at Long Island University in Brooklyn. Looking on line I am getting a lot of mixed reviews about this school, however it seems like the over all nursing program is very good and actually very rigorous. Does any one have any opinions about this program? I plan on living on campus there because I can not afford to travel back and fourth a few hours a day. If you could please let me know what you guys think it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! It just seems like a lot of people have negative things to say about the school in general but very few have opinions on the nursing program!

Congrats on getting accepted! I actually just graduated from LIU SON last semester. It was the most challenging 2 years of my life so far. Yes, the program is very rigorous and very difficult but in my opinion it was worth it. They do a great job preparing you for the NCLEX. I was actually browsing around the forums to see what other people had to say about the program and I came across this:

Basically what was said by the LIU grad is everything in a nutshell about the program. It's tough to stay in the program... many students get left back, drop out, or fail out by the end of the 2nd semester. You need a minimum of a C+ to pass a class and if you fail, you need to get a B the next time you take it. You have 3 chances every semester to get a 100% on the med math exam... but in your last semester, you take the these med math exams with no calculator and you have 12 tries to get 2 100%'s. Buy the HESI book ASAP and use it for all your classes. There are HESI exams every semester and if you score below an 800, you need to take a remedial class for it. In your last semester there are 3 exit HESIs and you need a minimum average of 76.45% to pass. It all sounds very demanding, but it's not impossible. Feel free to ask me any particular questions. Good luck!
