Locums tenens Nurse Practitioner travel

Published

OKay, I'm cross posting from the NP forum, and i know some NPs look here as well.

so many of you know my story from previous posts!

Good news!!!

I have 2 potential jobs for locums tenens!!! What i wanted!!!

One is for a 3-6 month contract in their outpatient clinic. You will be working Family Practice/Primary Care/Urgent Care, in Leesville, LA., starting ASAP. 8-4:30pm 40hrs week up to 50hrs if wanted.

The other is in Amherst, North of Springfield, MA. Student Health Urgent Care position starting around 1/12 through May. It's a night shift, starting 10pm and ending 8am. Alternating 4 shifts one week, 3 shifts the next MA license can be obtained quickly.

Anything i should be particular and ask during the phone interview?

I'm not sure the one the in LA even wants an interview (i think they are desperate b/c the recruiter pretty much said they offered me the job, but i let her know i would like to speak to whoever is hiring) The one in LA is also at a military base.

I've never lived on the East coast, and that kind of excites me! I also like the fact that also that pos is night shift it is 3 or 4 days/week!! I really don't want to work 5 days/week...I think i just need to make sure i at least have a MD by phone back up since i am a new graduate. I LOVE the thought of working urgent care though, I really am not all that gung ho excited about chronic disease and primary care. (probably one reason i love Peds so much!)

Any tips about what i should def. ask during the interview would be helpful.

I don't think salary is an issue, i think both jobs are ~40/hr and they pay housing and travel.

oh and either job is really looking for longer term, so if i want to stay that would probably be an option, but i like the fact that i won't be tied down, and have options to explore new places!

And if anyone has lived in either one of these areas please let me know the good/bad etc..
