Okay so you know that "go with your gut"? I'm so glad i did!
I have been working with several different travel companies for possible locums NP jobs.
I had 2 present me, whereafter you are supposed to get an interview, or at least more information about the job, THEN you have the option to accept or not.
The travel company presents you to the "client" (or position), then you get an interview, then the client tells the travel company yes or no, then the travel company offers you the position, then you accept or not.
So this other company, the job in Leesville, LA. The lady presented me, then told me they wanted me, and i sent her several emails with multiple questions that she didn't answer, and i specifically told her i would give her a decision this week and that i wasn't comfortable not having an interview.
So today she tells me, oh that's too bad and how she presented me and i accepted and now she has to go tell the gov.position that i don't want it now. And how if someone accepts the gov. expects them to go through with the credentialling.
Let me tell you what happened, she's gonna get some BIG commission for filling that position, and she assumed i would go, so she told them i would. And now she's gonna go blame this on me, saying i changed my mind, even though i have all the emails documenting that i said i wasn't comfortable without talking to anybody and that i would give her a decision this week.
It really ticks me off, because eventually i DO want to work at a military base in Germany, and dont want my NAME on some bad list.
i sent her an email reply saying i never accepted and that was very clear in my emails, but i have no control over what she tells them..
So anyways, got a reply from the lady, she said was misunderstanding... Said if someone wanted to be presented that meant they were interested, well DUH! I was interested but still does not mean i accepted the position....
Anyways, the only reason for this post, was to let you know to be aware of recruiters, and trust your gut if they keep avoiding your questions!
Also keep all records of your emails and re-read them before you send/reply!!
there doesn't seem to be too many people doing travel/locum NP work, but the demand is increasing i think. So do research, and look at the travel section of allnurses. but remember NP job contracts and how it works is still different than how the RN contracts work.
i hope i can post more about my experience after i get started!!
