Lich and Kingsborough Admissions?

Published

Hello, I am new to this web site and am currently a pre-clinical nursing student at Kingsborough CC, and I took the nln and scored in my school's 84th percentile. I got a 122 on the nln and have a 3.4 gpa. I also applied to Lich for this fall and have been wait listed for Lich and Kingsborough told me that they ran out of space. I was called on an interview for lich, went and thought I Aced it. Soooo upsetting and now I don't know what to do. Can anyone tell me if they are in either program, what they got on the nln and the gpa that you had when accepted. Need info so I can see if I actually had a chance. Thank you, any and all info for either school would be appreciated.

Hey, sorry to hear that. I'm currently at Kbcc myself getting ready to take the sci 25 in the fall and hopefully the NLN in January. I can't speak for myself because I haven't even applied to the program yet but a close friend of mine got in with a 3.6 average and 116 on the NLN, and I know of a few others with similar averages and nln scores so i'm guessing that they probably did run out of space and you would have gotten in. I understand it's frustrating now but even if you don't get into a program this semester, there is always next semester. I've been trying for the last 6 yrs to get into a program and i myself have applied to LICH & B.I, in the past. (did not get into LICH, wait listed at B.I) but i didn't let it stop me. Just be patient and please update me "WHEN" something works out because it will.

Hey thanks for the encouragement. I actually got a call from lich 2 weeks ago and I got in. So I am very excited. I actually have orientation this wednesday, and class on monday the 18th. KCC's program is hard and I believe unfair. I think, and so does my advisor that I should have been in the program for this fall!! 3 ppl I know got called off the list of students that didn't get in bc seats opened up, and they had a 125 and a 3.5 gpa.. so I don't know how ur friend got in with a 116. Sci 25 isn't hard, go to the free tutoring with the hw ur professor gives you and it will help a lot. I had prof gillies and he was great. If you study the hw's and reviews as is, you will do well on his exams. I got a B in the class and I haven't taken physics or chem in 8 years!! Remember you can't use a calculator on the nln, so try and do your hw's without it for sci 25, but def use them for the tests, as you may need to calculate odd numbers, and on the nln... not so much. Also, study for the nln, a little bit each day for the whole semester, you need a 120 or higher to have a real chance at getting in. Oh and remember its not your overall gpa, but the gpa of your 4 preclinical courses. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I heard so many bad stories about Gillies so I purposely switched my classes to evening so that I could take manscini, but I guess it's all in how you study. I'm definitely gonna start to study for the NLN from now. This is actually the second time i'm gonna be taking it, I think I got around 105 the first time but that was 3yrs ago and I had'nt taken any bio or math courses at that time and I barely passed chem with a C, so i'm hoping with more courses under my belt I can do much better this time. As far as my average, my overal average is only a 3.1 right now but I have an A- in Eng 12, B in Bio 11, and B+ in Pysch, and hopefully I can get at least a B+ in sci 25 in the fall, by the way where is the free tutoring for Sci 25 held?...Anyways, I know it's gonna be a long shot because you had such good grades and didn't get in but I'm just hoping that I'm one of the lucky ones and i get in for the spring, if not it's not the end of the world, i'll be applying to several other school in the area and I'm sure i'll be accepted somewhere. Thanks again and good luck in LICH.
