Letter of Intent vs Cover Letter?

I am applying to the Doctors Hospital of Manteca Versant program and the application asks for a letter of intention with specific inclusions (why you chose nursing, where you see yourself in 5 yrs, etc.). Is a letter of intent considered the same thing as a cover letter? I am probably going to include both, as I want to be safe and the deadline is tomorrow, but I am curious for my future knowledge. Thanks.
