want to know if i do a good job describing my interest in nursing and related healthcare experiences, and also if my sentences flow (transition well) Thank you in advance!:
Dear Chairperson,
At first, I was not certain about what I wanted to be in life or what career path to take. I thought about becoming a physical therapist, psychologist, teacher, and even a magazine editor. After careful consideration, I have come to the realization that I want to follow in the footsteps of many of my family members, and become a nurse. My personal satisfaction is being able to enrich and contribute to others lives and that is my motivation for achieving a career in nursing. In becoming a Nurse I will be able to give my services, and to not view it simply as a mean of making a living. For me, being successful in my career means the ability to perform a task really well through devotion and commitment, where other people benefit and nursing is the only field I see myself achieving these goals. I was often advised to become a doctor because it is still in the healing field, but I will pursue nursing because it is a more hands-on vocation with regard to patients. A nurse has more of an opportunity to make a connection with the patient and impact their lives, while attending to their medical maintenance. My decision to become a nurse was reconfirmed when my mom went to Haiti after the earthquake to aid her fellow Haitians in need because I will be able to use my degree to aide others in need when disaster strikes.
I have practical experience working in an acute care hospital setting as a nurse intern, while attending health academy. There, I interacted with patients while taking their vital signs, and preparing them to see the doctor. Most importantly, I was able to work in the pediatric clinic, where I realize that I deeply enjoy being able to care for children. This experience has made me able to apply academic and occupational skills to become a successful lifelong learner, and given me a solid foundation to start a successful career in professional nursing. I plan to specialize in Pediatrics and become a traveling nurse. While in the nursing program I also plan to join the Navy Nurse Corp.
If accepted into the East Stroudsburg University nursing program I vow to commit all of my talents and energies to become highly regarded in the nursing profession, and practice the profession with sincerity, uprightness, and accountability.
