Letter to BON regarding Arrest records

1) I have to write 2 letters to the BON explaining what went on in 1998, when I was arrested for a DUI and in 1994, when I was arrested (adjudication withheld with Pre-Trial Intervention and expunged record) for forgery. (Yes, I have to write a letter and disclose the expunged file.) Can anyone give me any advice on how to do both of these letters? I want to show accountability and I also hope to not make it seem like these bad PAST experiences reflect the person I am NOW. I am applying to get my nursing license, so I want to help myself as best as possible.

Thank you for your input.

I am going through a similar thing right now. I have a record that is getting esponged on thursday. As part of your letters you should have the redirections that you took to change that aspect of your life. For instance in my letter, I wrote that I moved to a different area, that I have met new friends that are not associated with the things I have done in the past, that I now have a family that I am supporting and that I am attending college to better my quality of life. I also contacted some respectable friends of mine and had them write character references. You would be amazed on the nice things that are written :) I had my boss write one, a few of my friends and even a couple of my nursing instructors.

In my opinion they are looking to see what you are doing to change the "behavior" and your goal is to show them with any kind of proof that you can provide.
