I've been working at an inpatient psych hospital for a little over 6 months... and with new management, higher patient acuity, staffing issues, etc etc, I have made the decision that it's time for a new job.
I applied for a job at an outpatient/crisis center/observation center in the city, and would like some advice for the interview. What would be a reasonable response as to why I'm leaving my current job?

if by staffing issues you mean less nurses and higher number of patients per nurse as well as higher incidence of violence without the staff to safely handle it---then you can tell the person interviewing you when asked why you left that you felt as though with the changes that had occured over your time there the conditions and environment of this last position became unsafe and you needed to move on to a position where you could feel safe.
I had a similar situation--one of the exact reasons I left the inpatient unit I left and thats what I say.
Good luck

Its never good to criticize your last employer, its better to say it wasn't a good fit or didn't meet your needs, wasn't what you were looking for etc
