Learning Spanish in the Bay Area

Published

What would be the best way to learn and become fluent in Spanish? I took 4 years in high school many moons ago, and while I can pick up on words here and there, I'm far from fluent. I'd like to learn both conversational and medical Spanish, with the main goal of being able to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients when I'm a nurse (graduating in 3 months!). I've heard from several people that the best way to learn is by living in a Spanish-speaking country for a year, but I unfortunately don't have the time or money for that yet. Any suggestions for programs/institutions offering fast-paced classes in the Bay Area/South Bay would be very much appreciated!

Hi pldo, Have you heard of Casa Hispana casahispana.com? It's a Spanish language school located in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of SF. I bet CCSF has some classes that might interest you. I would specifically recommend that you take a look at their "continuing education" programs. These classes seemed to be geared more towards working adults.

¡Buena suerte!
