Lasers

Any laser operators out there? Which lasers do you operate in your facility? Do you own or contract on a fee per use? Does someone in your facility act as the LSO or CMLSO?

I'm just learning our lasers. We own a CO2 and a YAG. Our Endo department owns another I think, and they bring it over when a case needs to be done in the OR. Once in a while, another type is brought in (I forget what type).

Our OR owns a CO2 laser (ENT and Neurosurgery cases), Pulse Dye Laser x 2 (used for vascular lesions); Infrared for Eyes and we get an outside laser for Lithotrypsy. The surgeons using it are laser certified, we all circulate on laser cases so there's really no designated laser nurse. There's a checklist to follow, right goggles for everyone, signs attached to the door, wet towel around the laser op site, etc...
