Hi Guys, Im looking to apply to Langara's LPN to RN intake next year. I was wondering if anyone is currently in the program or is an LPN who was accepted in the program, what was the process like? Is the GPA average very competitive for LPN's who are trying to get in the program? Thanks ! ?

It does not matter if you are an LPN, or holding a degree. You will need 1 Stat, 2 A&P, and 2 English courses as pre-requisite. The average GPA is calculated based on those 5 classes; and you need at least a 3.70 in order to be considered.  I would say the competition is very intense. This is because Langara is the only school which does not have a long waitinglist in lower mainland.  (KPU and VCC no longer accept new applicants. Other colleges require 10 pre-nurse courses. )    Thus, most of students in Vancouver tend to go Langara rather than other colleges.

I recommend spending 1 year to take, 2 English, 2 A&P, 2 Chemistry, 1 Stat, Micro-econ & Macro-econ,  and 1 elective. This allows you to go to any colleges in Canada .  From my perspective, Okanagan college is a good choice because they offer 26 seats each intake, 13 high school and 13 post secondary. After 2 years, you will automatically transfer to UBCO. Camosun college is another good option. It very similar to OC.   I think it is less competitive over there. TRU is the easiest one to get in, because no one wants to live in William Lake Campus during 1st two years.  That campus does not even have a residential building which means you have to drive to school. If you don't have a car during Winter time, well, you are screwed.

I applied in September for the Summer 2021 intake at Langara (LPN to RN). I got accepted into the program today. I applied to the program with a 4.12 GPA. I heard the GPA was competative, that you'd need at least a 3.4, if not a 3.6 or higher.

I took Statistics, English 1& 2 and A&P Biology 1 & 2 at VCC. It was a good option. :)

Geneva college has dual asn/BSN program for LPN's , I recently saw, and Jefferson in Philadelphia has a program but all your pre-reqs need to be done..its like 10 of them. Good luck ?
