LaGuardia Community College Candidacy

Hi, Guys! I'm a current student at LaGuardia Community College and I applied for Candidacy in this spring semester 2019 to get into the program in Fall. I'm so nervous because I heard the program is too competitive. Do you think that with my grades I have a chance to get in?

SSY 101: A SSY 204: -A A&P 203: B+ ENG 101: A- ENG 102: A- SCC 110: A and I'm missing A&P 204, but I'll take it in the short session.

hello there! what was your gpa in the key courses? and did you get into the RN program?

they only calculated my key courses and I got 3.74. Yes, I got into the program. Good luck!

thank you so much for responding! I am taking chemistry this fall and if I get an A, my gpa would be 3.85. I passed the teas and got a 65.3%. I also applied for candidacy this fall semester to get into the program in the Spring 2020. Im jus so nervous!

Did u take some of the general education courses? im just scared becasue i got B+ in English 1 & 2. And then two A-' and two A's.

General courses? You mean Eng 2, Psychology 2, Statistics A&P 2 and Community health?

yes! ? I think they call them gen ed courses. Have you taken those classes? or you only took the key courses?

I took all of them except community health cause I'm taking it now in fall. One of my friends told me they calculate your key courses GPA and if it isn't enough they add to the calculation the other courses

Hey guys,

I'm currently researching available programs in NYC and came across Laguardia. I have a couple of questions that you all might have the answers to since the program has been unresponsive.

I was wondering if a writing intensive course or a score of 3 on the English AP exam can substitute for ENG101? Can the grade for CHEM II be used instead of CHEM I? Also if you retake a prerequisite, does the program replace the grade or take the average of the grades?

Last question, what were the competitive grades for acceptance?

If anyone has any answers to the questions, I would greatly appreciate the help!
