I was accepted to St.Elizabeth's school of Nursing in Lafayette, Indiana. I took the NET on Tuesday and I have to go back down there for lab work...a blood test and some other stuff...I'm on birth control pills and was wondering if the blood they draw from me will show that and if thats a problem..it shouldnt be..but will they be able to tell if im on birth control pills? let me know! Thanks

There are FEDERAL laws governing your confidentiality (HIPAA included). This should not even be a consideration.

Why would they need to draw labs if you're applying to nursing school? That seems a little odd. Your medical rights are protected under the HIPPA laws, just as any other patient. Nursing schools, as well as employers, have the right to ask for a drug screen before hiring/acceptance, but those are usually done by urine. And even those results are supposed to be private - only between you and the lab performing the test. BY law, no one is allowed to know of your test results unless you have given them explicit permission to do so.
I would question their reasoning for drawing labs.....but thats just me.

I am assuming that they are drawing labs for drug testing..? In that case they will only be looking for certain drugs, and birth control won't be one on them. The only other thing I could think they would be drawing labs for would be to check antibodies/titers for your immunizations (possibly HIV and hepatitis titer, but that would be out of line).
Good Luck!
