Are the following lab steps correct for the cpne? Feel free to add or take away any steps.

Station A: Wound Management (15 minutes)

Tear off 4 strips of tape. Hang tape off table

Don clean gloves

Loosen tape toward the wound

* Remove Abd pad and 4X4 together

* Discard dressing and gloves in bag

Open sterile gloves, ABD pad, and sterile 4X4

Remove cap from NS bottle

Don sterile gloves using aseptic technique

Soak 4X4 with NS over garbage container

Cleanse wound with wet 4X4

Change sterile gloves using aseptic technique

* Apply 4X4. Cover with Abd pad

* Secure edges with tape

Remove sterile gloves

* Label - initials, date, time

Gather trash. Dispose in trash

Station B: IV Medication (20 minutes)

Read MAR

Calculate drip rate on SLRF

* Record flow rate (gtts/min) on SLRF - 1min, 30 sec, 15 sec, sec/gtts

* Select Medication from assorted medications

* Check ID against MAR - verbalize to CE

Don clean gloves

* Assess IV site for edema - verbalize to CE

Remove gloves

Clamp primary and secondary tubing

Drop primary bag

Spike and hang minibag

* Clear any air in tubing

Open clamp all the way on secondary tubing

* Adjust drip rate using clamp on primary tubing

Count for one minute

* Sign the MAR

Let CE check rate

Station C: IV Push into IVAD (15 minutes)

Read the MAR

Calculate amount of medication (total bolus, 15 sec, 30 sec)

* Record volume and time on SLRF

Select medication from assorted medications

Cleanse top of vial with alcohol swab

* Measure bolus and label syringe with tape

Cleanse port of saline bag with alcohol swab

Measure two syringes with flush solution from 500 ml bag

* ID patient - verbalize to CE

Don clean gloves

* Assess IV site for edema - verbalize to CE

Wipe secondary port with alcohol pad

Attach first flush syringe

* Aspirate

* First flush and dispose of syringe in sharps container

* Administer Bolus slower than prescribed rate

Dispose of syringe in sharps container

* Second Flush and dispose of syringe in sharps container

* Record Medication on MAR

Station D: Intramuscular or Subctaneous Injection (15 minutes)

Read the MAR

Calculate amount of medications

* Record individual and total volume on SLRF

* Select medications from assorted medications

Roll NPH Insulin - if assigned

* Choose right syringe and right needle

Cleanse top of vials with alcohol swabs

Inject air into vial of second medication to be drawn up

Inject air into vial of first medication to be drawn up

* Invert vial and measure first medication - clear air from syringe

Measure second medication without letting air get into the syringe

Recap needle using one hand scoop method

* ID patient - verbalize to CE

Don clean gloves

Palpate to find the site

Cleanse site with alcohol swab using a circular motion

Insert needle using a dart-like motion

Aspirate with nondominant hand

Inject slowly and steadily

Withdraw the needle and dispose in sharp container

Apply light pressure to the area (unless Heparin or insulin)

Remove gloves

* Record Medication on MAR
