LA County Nursing School acceptance letters

Published

Has anyone heard from LA County USC for the Spring 2009 semester?

Also, has anyone been accepted to SMC (Santa Monica Nursing School) for the Spring 2009 semester?

I got in to SMC, but I'd much rather go to LA County. What do you think? Which school is better?

I applied to LA County Nursing School as well and haven't received a letter yet. I don't think that I am going to attend there if I do get in because they are not accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE. This could be a problem when applying to graduate programs. If it were me, I would go to SMC.

I also think that SMC has a better pass rate on the NCLEX than LA County does. Might also be something to look into.

Oh really? I wasn't aware of this. SMC seems like a better bet then. Do you have any knowledge as to what clinical sites they have? I just wanted LA County because I wanted to do my clinicals at County USC so I can have a lot of experience with trauma, etc.

Thanks for the info!

I am not positive about where they do all their clinicals, but I do know that UCLA, St. Johns and Childrens Hospital are included. I am not sure that they go to county though. Initially that was also why I wanted to go to county. I thought it would be a fantastic experience.

I am hesitant to go there because of the accreditation issue though. Are you planning on going on for a BSN or a Masters? If so, I would call some schools that you think you may want to go to later and ask them if they require a NLNAC or CCNE accredidted AA program.

Happy Thanksgiving!
