LA City College ADN Fall 2021

Published

Hey all,

I wanted to start a topic for those who applied to LACC's ADN program for Fall 2021. I haven't seen any other groups for this school so I figured I'd make one so we can discuss questions, comments, concerns, etc. Has anyone received any updates on their application?

Hello, I also applied and no, I haven’t received any update from them at all since I sent my application.

Hello, I applied for Fall 2021 but I haven't received any information regarding acceptance or disqualification.

Commenting for updates

I was accepted Fall 2020 and I found out on June 19th. Hopefully you guys will hear soon. Good luck!

Thank you for this! How is your experience in the program so far, if you don't mind me asking?

It has had it's ups and downs. On the bright side, I am very confident I have picked the right field to be in. CC Nursing Programs are rotating doors when it comes to professors. There are a few tenured faculty but clinical is always changing (especially if you factor in COVID.) Clinical professors can be hired on a moments notice and you have to be able to adapt to their schedule. Flexibility is a small sacrifice when you consider how much money you are saving by attending a CC program. At the end of the day, I cannot complain. Overall, I feel like I am getting a reasonably good education and excellent clinical exposure (from small community hospitals like Berverly Hospital to huge trauma centers like LAC.) First semester was hard for me because everything was new to me and it took me extra time to adapt my study style. I am just finishing second semester and I feel like it was just a lot of busy work. Unfortunately, the program is loosing two superb faculty this semester. One from theory (OB), and one from clinical (Psych). These faculty were phenomenal who evidently know and love their fields. Anyways, just a ramble. At the end of the day, teamwork is really helpful in nursing school. Thankfully, there is much less of a competitive sense when you attend a CC program compared to a private school, so the people in your cohort are awesome.

Thanks for the detailed response! I appreciate all the insight. I guess every school/program has its ups and downs. Sorry to hear that you guys are losing faculty; I know the inspiration and influence that a good professor can have on a student. The important thing is you know that you've picked the right field. Thanks again and good luck to you in the rest of your program!

You got it! It's true, while some people think they can find it, you'll never find the perfect school/program. I agree, I think the impact a professor can make is HUGE. I mean it can honestly affect your decision to pursue that specialty in nursing. Best of luck to you and definitely reach out to me if you get in and I'll get you connected! About 4 semesters ago, a group of people in the program were really intentional to get all of the semesters connected via the LACC Nursing Club.  That intention has been continued and there is a now a great connection between the different semesters in the program which can be super helpful as you advance in the program.
