L&D Interview!

Hi All,

I am looking for tips on how to interview with an L&D manager. My background if LTC and adult ICU, but L&D is my passion. I want to be in women's health and advocate for mothers in labor. I also love the teaching aspect of it. This is my first interview with a L&D manager and I am trying to make the best out of it.

Does anyone have any tips on what these managers like to hear during the interview? How can I make myself more desirable in the interview? This is a job that I have been waiting to get but never got the chance until now! Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Taking CEU classes or attending seminars on pregnancy and labor and birth will help strengthen your resume. Attend fetal monitoring workshops - there is so much to learn in L&D, and the more you can come in with, the better.

Labor support, doula training, and lactation training can be helpful, too. Go ahead and get NRP certified.

When you do these trainings on your own outside of work, it shows a sincere interest in OB nursing and L&D. And if it's your passion, you'll enjoy these trainings as well.
