L&D nurse considering Bakersfield Ca.

Hi first time traveler here... Any comments suggestions regarding Bakersfield Ca. For labor and delivery

Hi, I'm considering a travel assignment there as well in LD and would love to find out how it is there too. Hopefully someone will reply.

Bakersfield, CA the city is not the greatest place to be. If you will working at Kern Medical Center, it is a very busy unit with a great staff. I enjoyed my time there as a traveler.

Memorial is a nice facility. It's a favorite in the city so it's always busy. It's not in a great area and vehicles in the parking lot get burglarized regularly. If you travel here stay in the northwest portion of the city it's safer.

Hi, thanks for replying. I actually did an assignment there on the LD unit and it was cool, staff is nice, location sucks big time - very, very dry and dusty -was glad to get outta there, but people were nice. Memorial was busy while I was there but they cancelled my contract after 4 wks due to low census - go figure. I would recommend the assignment though.
