kent state accelerated fall 2011

I was accepted into the program and was wondering if there is anyone else out there that's starting this fall with me? Also to any past or present students if you have any advice about the program and how intense it is....I would love to hear from you.

I finished the program at Kent. Without getting into detail... I will tell you that I, along with a overwhelming number of people I know who were in this program, would recommended going ANYWHERE else.

In general, to do well in the program all you have to do is memorize your powerpoint slides. Good luck.

Actually if you could go into details...I have been accepted at Marymount and was just asked to write an essay for Kent State...I know Kent State is cheaper, but I get the impression that they are a bit disorganized- especially because my Medical Director didn't file his letter of recommendation on time and they still moved me to the second round of applicants. Weird. You could PM me if you don't feel comfortable expressing your honest views on the program. It would be much appreciated. Hoping that your job is better than the school was:)

I'm not sure how to PM so I will just reply on here.

I've heard good things about Marymount. A nurse I was paired with in clinical did their program and had great things to say.

KSU is disorganized among other things. In my opinion, their program was a 4 semester nightmare of professors who were disrespectful and dismissive of student concerns. At one point, the director of the program actually told our entire class "If you don't like it you can leave. You knew what you were getting into." rather than actually addressing student problems.

There were 2-3 professors who were helpful and genuine but the overwhelming majority were not.

Obviously, the program is doable. You can get through it and do well. If money is a concern then you have to make the decision that's best for you. However, I will say that now that I've graduated from the program I have NO desire to be a nurse. The attitude of Kent State and my experience there sucked every ounce of passion and excitement I had to work toward a career in nursing. I certainly don't stand alone in saying that.

@karebear2717 I was actually looking to attending Kent State for their Spring 2012 program, however reading your post I am now kind of skeptical.... my choices are between Kent and Cleveland State...do you know anyone who has attended or have you heard anything about Cleveland State's accelerated program?
