Kaplan college San diego

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Hi there,

Im considering the lvn program @ Kaplans San Diego Campus. I have heard good and bad reviews regarding Kaplan and would like some more info. if anyone has any! I plan to take my pre-reqs for my rn after I complete my lvn(I need to work and would like to gain experience) and then Bridge to a RN program @ a community college. Im aware of the insane cost, and will hopefully being getting up to 20k of it in grants. So, the amount is much of my worry as the quality of my education. I want to be a well-prepared nurse when I am done. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nicole:yeah:

Hi Soontobenursenicky!

As long as you can look past the disorganization of finicial aid and the counselors (I can't speak for all of them of course) and if you cannot wait 3 years to get into a traditional school, then go for it!

I am starting the LVN program in January and am kicking and screamig all of the way!! as it is a last ditch effort. All of the schools are too far for me to drive and Concorde in San Bernardino is right next to a strip club UGH, so of course I chose Kaplan because of the location. The pass rate for LVN is 63%, you can find this information on the Cal. board website, where Concorde is 91%...go figure!. None of your courses will transfer over to a regional JC or UC in Ca. since Kaplan is not regionally accredited, but as long as you take your A and P 1 and 2, Micro and GE's at a regionally accredited college you will be fine.

Once you have your LVN, it doesn't matter where you graduated from, only that you passed your state boards. You can then go into the LVN to RN bridge with your community college. Just being honest with my personal experience so far.

I hope that this has helped :D
