Just wondering about nursing homes and potential jobs...

Published

Hey guys,

I am half way done with an accelerated program to get my BSN. I also have a professional degree. My end goal is to be in administration. I think that these two degrees will hopefully complement one another when applying for jobs. Specifically, I would like to be a nursing home administrator. I recognize my nursing goals are probably different than most of my classmates who want to work in hospitals. I really would like to work in a nursing home for awhile before I start the process of becoming a liscenced administrator. I am not sure how you would be able to coordinate a nursing home withough having worked in one previously! Anyways, I am wondering if anyone knows if it is dificult to find jobs in LTC following graduation? I know the job market is bad, especially in hospitals. I am fully aware that RN's in nursing homes have a very high turnover rate and have an insane number of patients and it is maybe not as desireable as being in a hospital. I was just wondering what the job market is like in nursing homes and if they would hire me as a new grad. Thanks!
