Just a Nurse - Poem

Just a Nurse

Poem by Mikayla Johnson

Dashing crazily from

One patient to the next

My brain feels numb

From being perplexed

No time for lunch

Too many sick

So I sit and munch

Have to be quick

 My ears are ringing

From the patient who

Is steadily singing

It’s nothing new

She tore off her mitten

And is swinging at staff

Now I’ve been bitten

She starts to laugh

My patient is bold

Listening to him curse

And still I’m told

“You’re just a nurse”
