JTube Issues in homecare

Published

Hello

I'm a homecare nurse and I'm having a problem. Patient Jtube clogs up every 3 weeks. Nurses know to flush jtube every 2 hours to maintain pantency but I don't believe it's being done. We have been to hospital 4 times within the last  3months for a G/T tube replacement. It hard on the patient and I just don't know how much more I can take this is exhausting.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think flushing a j-tube every 2 hours in the home care setting is difficult as I imagine the patient does not have 24/7 care. I have attached a pretty good article that outlines how to prevent and treat clogged feeding tubes especially j-tubes.

Hi

Patient has 24 hour nursing but the parent will do some hours out of the 24. The problem is patient Jtube clogs up within 2 weeks have getting a new tube. Literal she goes to hospital every 6 weeks or less because of this tube. I don't know how much more this patient can take.
