Jobs and the waiting game?

How long do you wait for a job to contact you, or do you contact them?

I was told I had a job (guarenteed) just had to wait for the recruiter from HR to get in touch with me so I could formally accept. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard from HR yet. Should I be calling them? I don't wanna be a bother, so I've only emailed once and text my ADON once, both of which never had an answer back.

I've been outta school now for months so this waiting thing is killing me.

It depends on the employer. I asked during the interview if I could reach out if I hadn't hear back within the two weeks they told me to wait. They were very open to it. Once I got my job offer I was given a point of contact within HR. I always called with any questions I had if I hadn't heard back within a reasonable time. I was very anxious to start as well, but it took me one and a half months to get through the preemployment process. (Mind you it is a federal job so I had to undergo background checks, drug tests, fingerprints, and credential verification). Patience is worth if it if it's a good job. Hope this helps a little! Best of luck to you.

Thank you! I'm trying to be patient, but as you know it's soooooo hard! My only contact is with the ADON and I know she's insanely busy, especially after the holidays, which I'm sure is what's adding to the wait time for me. Keeping my fingers crossed it comes this week!

I was offered my first job back on December, the week after Christmas and I called HR MULTIPLE times in order to get the process moving quicker. I'm moving to a different city within the same state so I really couldn't afford to just "sit around and wait". I had to get the ball rolling. I would make a courtesy call to HR, tell them who you are and you are just calling to see if the DON would like to move forward with the hiring process.
