Job Shadowing Opportunities?

Hi-

I've been considering a career change to nursing for awhile now and I gonna start taking my pre-req's in the spring. I currently have little exposure to healthcare and I would like to know more since I've have my degree in business and have been working in IT. Does anyone know of any possible job-shadowing opportunities in the chicagoland area? I live in Chicago, but travel frequently to nearby suburbs so I'm open to any area. Thank you, any information is appreciated!

I did the same route as you are talking about. I called the HR dept. at Northwestern and asked if I could shadow a nurse in the ER. They got me in touch with the manager and allowed me to do 4 hours in the ER which was easily 6 hours. I had a good time and it solidified my desire to change careers. I will ask at my work to see what the policy is and get back to you. I don't work again until Saturday.
